The SABBA Movement for change is a Public Benefit Organisation in South Africa that aims to eradicate Hunger; Develop Skills and Generate Wealth, Health and Sustainable Incomes in impoverished communities in Southern Africa.
We were established in 2017 and have improved the lives of many families in KwaZulu-Natal and the Western Cape since. We operate with integrity and are fully inclusive in all our activities. Our programmes are practical and simple to ensure that even illiterate people can benefit. We thrive on innovation and ensure that we always have fun in the field and in the office.
We have an integrated approach that starts off with the creation of Food Security through our innovative Foodscaping Programme. We teach people how to sustainably grow and harvest their own fruit and vegetables and how to set up chicken coops for eggs and broiler chicks. In this way we enable them to feed their families and communities.
The next step is a comprehensive and localised Skills Development programme– we believe that every person can be taught a skill that they have a passion for and can use to generate an income.
The third element to our approach is Income Generation. We assist our Champions to set up small and micro businesses, to process and sell their fresh produce, manufacture and sell other products, or render the services from their newly acquired skills.
The final and crucial part of our approach is Community Service. Our programme allows for every Champion to share their new knowledge about fruit, vegetable and poultry production with another person, who will also pass the knowledge on. During our skills training programme, physical issues identified in the local survey, such as, construction, electrical or plumbing related problems are addressed through an apprenticeship programme. Each person who benefits from the SABBA MOVEMENT is encouraged to pay it forward within the community.
